Domestic violence, or abuse, is when one adult in the home physically hurts or bullies another person or does things to make the other person feel bad.
There are different forms of abuse:
Physical abuse is when one adult hits, pushes, kicks, or threatens to hurt another person.
Emotional abuse is when one adult repeatedly puts down another or makes them feel bad or stupid, does not let them see their friends or family, yells at them, or keeps them from doing things they like to do.
Verbal abuse is when one adult calls another names, yells, screams, tells another how to act or what to wear, or repeatedly puts down another.
Financial abuse is when one adult controls all the money for the household.
Remember, you are not alone. It's not your fault!
